Getting Back to the routine
Stepping away from my routine over these past two months was genuinely disheartening. Between a string of unexpected events and a frustrating forced hiatus from physical activity, watching my hard-earned progress slide—and seeing the scale creep up by nearly 10 pounds—was a tough pill to swallow. It felt as though a vital part of my daily rhythm and peace of mind had been temporarily stripped away.
Yet, as challenging as that distance was, returning to the virtual arena brought some surprisingly powerful silver linings. Today marked my second session back, and while my lungs were burning, my timing was visibly rusty, and I had to scale the intensity all the way down to the beginner levels just to track the objects, the experience was nothing short of a revelation. It gave me a newfound appreciation for the subtle way these workouts sharpen my focus and rebuild my hand-eye coordination—a subtle benefit that might even help others looking to fine-tune their visual tracking.
More than anything, crossing that threshold again reignited the sheer joy of movement. There is a rare kind of magic in a workout where two full hours dissolve into what feels like a mere 15 minutes because you are so entirely immersed in the fun of it. Releasing that built-up tension, clearing my head, and feeling the sheer fun of the game reminded me exactly why I fell in love with this practice in the first place. Rebuilding my foundation will take time and patience, but stepping back into the flow proved that the path forward is as rewarding as ever.
